Community recovery
Following a disaster event, the Department of Communities works to help the people affected restore their emotional, social, economic and physical wellbeing. As part of this role, the department provides and coordinates information, personal support, resources, specialist counselling, mental health services and community development services.

About community recovery
Community recovery is a way of assisting communities to manage the impacts of a disaster. There are many services that can be provided to assist, including information, personal support, financial assistance, specialist referral and community development activities.
Community recovery support and assistance
Assistance is available for people whose property is uninsured and has been damaged as a result of recent storms and flooding in communities throughout Queensland. One-off emergency assistance and other financial assistance are available for eligible applicants.
