Cyclone Larry Operation Recovery Task Force
Recovery efforts have concentrated on restoring emotional, social, economic and physical wellbeing. The Operation Recovery Task Force was established to manage the recovery and rebuilding of communities in Far North Queensland devastated by Cyclone Larry.
The task force was chaired by retired General Peter Cosgrove and worked in partnership with the Queensland Government, the Commonwealth and local government to ensure affected communities were rebuilt as soon as possible.
The Operation Recovery Task Force was disbanded after the first anniversary of Cyclone Larry on 20 March 2007. The rebuilding effort has continued, coordinated by the Operation Recovery Management Group (ORMG), chaired by Emergency Management Queensland. The Operation Recovery Update, which is a community newsletter on the progress of recovery efforts, continues to be produced on behalf of the ORMG by the Department of Communities Community Recovery Services. Copies of these newsletters and the final report of the task force are available at the above link.
