Homelessness early intervention services
Homelessness early intervention services assist people at risk of becoming homeless to maintain independent accommodation, by providing targeted short-term support and case management at critical times.
This service assists people at risk of homelessness to:
- access income support and improve their ability to achieve financial security
- access support services
- obtain and/or maintain independent accommodation.
Homelessness early intervention can be provided either before or after a crisis. Post-crisis support for an individual or family who has been homeless in the past, but now has independent accommodation, is still considered early intervention if they are at risk of losing their accommodation without getting that support.
The homeless early intervention services are funded through the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program.
These new funds will form part of the Innovation and Investment Fund, which was established by the Australian Government as part of the SAAP.
