Message from the Director-General
Welcome to the new Department of Communities.
Recent changes to the structure of Queensland public service agencies have increased the range of functions and responsibilities covered by the department.
The new Department of Communities includes services provided previously by:
- Department of Communities
- Department of Child Safety
- Disability Services Queensland
- Department of Housing
- the Indigenous Government Coordination Office
- Sport and Recreation Queensland.
Our department now offers a wide range of complementary services and improved coordination in the delivery of those services to clients.
This means that Queenslanders will be able to access most community support services through our expanded network of offices which reach the remotest corners of the state.
We are proud to be able to offer improved services and support on behalf of the Queensland Government and will continue to work closely with community organisations to ensure the best possible outcomes and provision of services at a local level.
