Annual Report 2005-06
The Department of Communities significantly increased the level and availability of the services it provided this year. We also achieved considerable success with building stronger communities, developing new partnerships and building the skills, resource management and infrastructure of our organisation.
Highlights for 2005-06 included providing $58.8 million in grants to provide homelessness services across the state, coordinating 1927 youth justice conferences, licensing and monitoring school-age childcare services, involvement in the Tropical Cyclone Larry relief effort, leading the development of the Blueprint for the Bush strategy and increasing the number of services delivered by Smart Services Queensland on behalf of Queensland Government agencies.
