Message from the Minister
Connecting Queensland
Every Queenslander has at least one thing in common - we are all part of a community. Our diversity and common commitment to inclusion and innovation generates a wonderful community spirit that must be celebrated and sustained.
With this commitment in mind, I take great pleasure in introducing you to a new publication to connect all Queenslanders with the vast array of services and opportunities available to ensure that everyone can participate fully in our community life.
Community Connect is a community resource which will reflect on what brings us together as a community, not on what sets us apart.
A great place to start this reflection is with a celebration of multicultural Queensland. The annual Queensland Multicultural Festival in October joins the community together in showcasing the diversity of our state.
Embracing the differences within our community is a key theme of the Festival, and a key aim of the Queensland Government. Sometimes this means facing obstacles head on. I attended the annual Roar Against Racism event and saw Queenslanders united against racism. I was proud to witness this wonderful display of state solidarity.
I look forward to communicating with you through Community Connect about the services and initiatives that deliver on our commitment to you and to the Queensland community.
Lindy Nelson-Carr
