Queensland seniors who have collectively given over 500 years of volunteer service to communities around the state were recognised at the annual Premier’s Awards for Queensland Seniors at Parliament House in Brisbane.
The 15 senior award winners have made a huge social and economic contribution to the state.
The Queensland Multicultural Festival was a huge success attracting 65 000 people to Brisbane’s Roma Street Parkland to celebrate Queensland’s rich diversity of cultures. The free community event featured a vast array of music and dance and a wide variety of regional food.

With 97 scooters and wheelchairs, Hervey Bay residents broke the world record for the largest mobility scooter convoy as part of Disability Action Week celebrations. The event helped to raise awareness of some of the issues facing people who use wheelchairs or scooters.
