Much has been happening across Queensland’s Indigenous communities in recent months from the young Indigenous leaders forum held at Parliament House to the annual Stylin’ Up festival in Inala and the ministerial roundtable held in Cairns. community connect captures a snapshot.
The Indigenous under 16s rugby league series between the Murris and the Kooris kicked off in May with Sports Minister Phil Reeves presenting the talented young players with their jerseys.
He commended team members on their chance to play representative football and gain big match experience with the hope of pursuing a professional footy career.
The young Indigenous leaders forum brought together 20 of the state’s brightest young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders for four days to learn leadership skills and work with leaders from business and government.
