Namalata Thusi

The Department of Communities publishes Namalata Thusi magazine as the Queensland Government’s external publication on Indigenous issues.

Namalata is a Queensland Aboriginal word meaning "messenger" and Thusi is a western Torres Strait Islander word meaning "paper" or "book".

Namalata Thusi is designed to 'showcase' successful partnerships which have produced better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders and to act as a catalyst to encourage similar partnerships elsewhere.

It is distributed to schools, TAFE and university libraries, State and Commonwealth Government agencies, local government, private enterprise and community groups, Aboriginal and Island Councils and media organisations.

Published quarterly, Namalata Thusi gives preference to items written from the community perspective, rather than the service provider's point of view. It features columns by contributing writers. All contributions and suggestions are welcomed.
