Early Years Centres

The Queensland Government has established Early Years Centres at Caboolture and Nerang.

Early Years Centres are also planned to open at Browns Plains in 2009 and Cairns in 2010.

These centres will extend the services and support available for children and their families in these areas.

The Early Years Centres will be ‘one-stop-shops’ where early childhood education and care, family support and health services are available for families expecting a child or with children aged up to eight years.

These services will be provided by experienced staff such as early childhood educators, family support workers and child health nurses, who will work with and provide support to children and parents.

The four Early Years Centres will also provide services from sites in neighbouring communities to families who are unable to access the centres or who prefer to go to a site closer to their home.

Home visiting services and outreach programs and activities may also be provided from local community venues.

Children, parents and communities will all benefit from the Early Years Centres.
