The Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs commissioned research into the causes and effects of social isolation in order to inform the development of interventions to enhance social networks and overcome social isolation in the veteran community. 'Improving Social Networks' is the 1999 research report from the study conducted through the School of Public Health at La Trobe University, the School of Social Work at the University of Melbourne and the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney.
