Partnership Award

The Partnership Award recognises an innovative and exceptional project or activity, delivered through a partnership between individuals and/or community organisations which has contributed to the prevention of domestic and family violence.
Winner: GHD Construction and Women's Refuges for Partnerships at Work
GHD formed partnerships with four women's refuges in South-East Queensland through Australia's CEO Challenge. These partnerships have resulted in positive outcomes for all parties involved in the initiative.
GHD has improved the capacity of the four women's refuges to support women and their children escaping violence by providing financial and in-kind support, goods to meet client needs, training and development, building children's play areas and equipment, implementing a back yard blitz and giving special treats such as Christmas gifts and hampers, Easter eggs and Mother's Day gifts.
GHD has also increased awareness of domestic and family violence amongst its staff who are able to assist others affected by domestic and family violence in the workplace, in their families and in their communities.
GHD employees have been involved in workplace training seminars and fundraising activities. GHD has also published articles about domestic and family violence and involved staff in campaigns such as White Ribbon Day.
In addition, the partnerships have contributed to increased staff wellbeing and business financial success by creating a corporate culture which cares about, and contributes to their local community. The corporate culture is one in which violence is not tolerated.

Highly Commended: Safer Homes in Noosa Everyday (SHINE)
Safer Homes in Noosa Every Day (SHINE) is a partnership between a range of government and non-government agencies, local businesses and community members to provide a whole-of-community approach to addressing and reducing domestic and family violence in Noosa.
As part of this partnership, three homes were built in three days on local council land. These houses provide accommodation, support and counselling services to victims and their children. Perpetrators of violence and abuse who are associated with tenants at the SHINE homes are referred to counselling and educational programs. The partnership also manages the coordination of services and networking.
