Winner: Domestic Violence Prevention Centre Gold Coast Inc, Gold Coast Youth Service and Gold Coast Drug Council for Voices to End Violence

Voices to End Violence is a collaboration between the Domestic Violence Prevention Centre Gold Coast Inc, the Gold Coast Youth Service and the Gold Coast Drug Council, Mirikai to provide an opportunity for young men aged 16 to 20 years to develop music and write songs with an anti-violence message.

Metaphor — a professional music consultant group, was engaged to facilitate the project and provided the young men with activities to explore different layers of music utilising the concept of ending violence.

A CD of the song Drop the Violence was written and performed by the young men and copies were given to the participants at a launch of the product. Wider distribution of the CD will occur in the future.

The young male participants are committed to continue contributing to social change and encouraging their peers to live violence free lives.
