What is a licensed operator?
A licensed operator is any group or organisation licensed by the Department of Communities to deliver The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and The Bridge Award in Queensland. Examples of these groups include but are not limited to:
- schools
- service clubs
- state wide youth organisations
- community art groups
- sporting clubs
- youth justice services
- commercial ventures
- disability services
- universities and TAFEs
- community cultural centres.
By registering as a licensed operator, groups or organisations are supported by the State Award Office within the Office for Youth, Department of Communities, to deliver the Award program within their organisation and provide guidance, support and encouragement to young people participating in the Award. There are approximately 150 licensed operators currently delivering the Award to young Queenslanders.
