About Youth Works

The Youth Works 2009 The year of creativity art exhibition is the culmination of the art program at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre.

The art program assists young people in detention to create a brighter future through art. The program is just one of many programs offered to young people in detention to help them develop job and life skills and divert them from the youth justice system once they return to the general community.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for the community to recognise the young people's artistic talent which provides a positive boost to their sense of achievement.

The art program and exhibition is a collaborative effort between the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre and the Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre which provides a highly successful curriculum for the young people at the detention centre.
